We've been bad bloggers!

Time has flown and Neither Pickles have blogged.  It's The 4th of July! I have a picture of
a quilt I made 9 years ago and then hung it outside by my hollyhocks to take a picture.

 Pretty Picture.  I love the following picture of Little Pickle at the beach.  yes we went to the
Bethany Beach in May. 

But my daughter in law Jessica and granddaughter Kayleigh couldn't come.  So next year we will
try again. I love this picture of my son and grandson also.

Well it is getting late.  I will blog again soon.  I promise!

What have I been quilting

The end of April I put a couple little quilts in a local quilt show.  I won a blue ribbon on the faux trapunto one.

The other small quilt I entered was a trapunto star.  I taught a trapunto class last fall.
Not everyone likes feathers so I designed a star and then with my janome sewed around
the star and embellished it a bit.  I put a grid on the sides of the star and free motioned and
used my janome's embroidery.  My 6500 just has some basic embroidery stitches.  It took
a long time to finish this little quilt.  I used colored pencil plus archival ink to draw on the
star.

I am practicing with some different threads on my longarm.  I drew some crazy feathers
with chalk first.

 

I am not done yet.  I still have to fill in the sun with some fancy stitching.  I have to do the  background fills also.  I will show you later when I am done.   Hope you liked the photos!

I had a nice Mother's Day.  My Kids are the best.  I always get a quilt store gift certificate from Little Pickle and my son gave me the largest basket of new guinea impatients.

I also was taken out for a delicious meal and went golfing.
I haven't been very good about blogging.  All the family was home for Easter and after 6 
tries I liked this photo of the family.

It is finally spring here.  I love the spring flowers.

She finished a triathlon!

Little Pickle finished her first triathlon.  We are proud of her.  Now she can rest. 
She doesn't even look tired.

Momma Pickle would never be able to do a triathlon.
 

It's Spring

This picture of Little Pickle's tulips from a couple of years ago are beautiful.

The deer always get my tulips.  It is to be warm here tomorrow in the 70's.
Easter will be here.  This picture is priceless.

We will be coloring eggs next weekend.

Look at these happy kids that had colored eggs last year !

When I think of April.  I think of the color purple.  I still have to finish  this little purple quilt.

Photos from spring break

Momma and Papa Pickle went to Florida to visit snowbirds.  It was really nice and a break from the cold. We were in Cocoa Beach and got up every morning to watch the sun come up.

 I never saw so many peacocks next to our condo.  They woke us up one night cawing at 1am and 3am.

We stayed at another family snowbird's house in Punta Gorda.  Just beautiful.

We biked, golfed, toured the area and played Mexican train at nite.  Oh yes and ate alot.

Thanks to our snowbird hosts.  It was great to get away from the snow.

In search of a shamrock in my pictures, I was unsuccessful.  But I did find this cute picture of Owen and Gavin dressed in Green from about 4 years ago!!

So looking through Picasa at pictures, I cant help but post these cute pictures!!  They are growing up TOOOOO fast. 

Nothing better than capturing these precious moments by camera.   So many good memories  :)

In Search of Shamrocks

It must be close to St Patrick's day.  So I looked for some shamrocks in my pictures.  I have a couple.  First last year I did a Celtic class with Mary Lee.  She is an expert  at celtic designs in
quilting.

Also in 2009 I did a block of the month from Bunny Tales  with shamrocks in it.  It is still a UFO!
 
I have a plant that is shamrock like.  I have had it for 3 years.  It opens up during the day and closes at night.

Does Little Pickle have any Shamrocks?

My oldest grandson turned 4 years old today.  Time flies.

Escape from the Snow

Little Pickle and family escaped from the cold and the snow for 5 days and went to sunny Hollywood Florida.   We had no plans except for pure relaxation.   It was exactly that!!

We awoke early Friday morning to catch our flight out of Baltimore at 6:45 am.   Thanks to Momma and Papa Pickle for watching the dogs a few days and to our friend Heather, the remaining days!!

We arrived at the hotel around 10 am and the first stop was the beach and the pool!

Hollywood has a trolley that runs so we did not need to rent a car.   Friday night we ordered pizza for dinner and went downtown to the Kids Festival, where we spent an hour watching the kids in the bounce house.

All day Saturday was a beach day.   We rented an umbrella and chairs for the day on the beach and bounced back and forth between swimming in the ocean and playing in the sand.  

Sunday morning was spent collecting sea shells which soon became a favorite activity of Gavins.   We have a whole bag full of seashells we brought back.  Sunday afternoon we took the water taxi up to Fort Lauderdale for lunch.    The remainder of Sunday was spent by the pool!!

We stayed at the Marriott in Hollywood which was right on the beach and boardwalk.  It was a great hotel and had a nice ocean side restaraunt so we ate there most days, and did not have a bad meal.    It was nice because we could eat on the boardwalk and watch the kids play on the beach.

All day Monday from 9 am to 4 pm we were in the pool!  The kids did not nap and went strong all day, but crashed early at 6:00!!!!

Tuesday was spent enjoying the sun and fun for the last day!  We met lots of great people and the kids had lots of other little friends to play with.   We rented a bicycle Tuesday evening which was an adventure.   

Back to the snow and cold we go!!!  We return to Maryland with temperatures in the 20s and light snow!   I hope our getaway will help us get through this winter and we really look forward to spring!!!!

Salmonella

Where oh where have I been?  Oh that's right I have been home the past 2 weeks with a little boy that came back with a positive Salmonella culture!!!      I think we are finally getting back into our normal routine.  The health department called because of the result and wanted me to retrack all of our activities and what we ate for 2 weeks!   That is just down right hard to do!!!!

Glad to say he is finally back to normal!!!

We are so sick of this winter so decided to book a Florida vacation.   We can't wait and apparently my kids can't either.

Valentines day was lovely!   We had our traditional crab legs and steak that the kids devoured.   Also had special cupcakes for dessert.    Doesn't get much better than that!   I promise to be better at blogging now that things have "calmed" down here!!!!
